Pretty Lily

JOHN LOENGARD: "A Ming vase can be well-designed and well-made and is beautiful for that reason alone. I don't think this can be true for photography. Unless there is something a little incomplete and a little strange, it will simply look like a copy of something pretty. We won't take an interest in it."

PHOTOGRAPHER'S JOURNAL: I plead, guilty as charged, but I couldn't resist. More adventurous efforts coming soon.

You may plead "guilty" but your site has visitors who seem to offer you a suspended sentence.
A quick snap shot: British Columbia, Canada; Limburg, Netherlands; Canbarra, Australia; Helsinki, Finland; Buenos Aires, Argentina; 26 unique visitors from 7 states in the US and one multiple returning visitor from CT.
A remarkable "guest book."

Still guilty. It's satisfying when people visit and comment, but I still have to set my own goals. That requires making distinctions and reaching beyond the images that come easily.

On the other hand, this lovely lily under perfect, late afternoon light was irresistible. The full composition was satisfying, but this cropping to a square eliminates the non-essentials. With all that, it's mostly just pretty.

A perfect shot!! Everything, including the reflection...

Wonderful, the reflection is almost like in a mirror.
Take and publish pictures the way you like it, never do what other people want you to do.
I like your pictures but of course some more some less.

Dick- Thanks for your encouragement, and, yes, in this kind of photography, our own choices are the only choices, but its important also to see how people respond and see if one is having the effect one wants to achieve... communicating what one wants to communicate.
