Skarf Mountain Dairy Barn

PHOTOGRAPHER'S DIARY: They built the barns and farmed the land around the time of the Civil War. Their descendants live in shiny new houses on top of the hill. The cow stalls have been empty for half a century. The hay, most probably, will feed horses that are ridden where corn used to grow and cows grazed. Curious, how time rearranges things!

Hi Ted! Interesting barn, amazing creeper! The autumn colours are gorgeous, and the cow is a great shot!
Meanwhile Blogtrotter just said goodbye to Mykonos 2007!! It shows the famous sunset scene at Little Venice, and the Pelican mascot of the island… ;)
Hope you enjoy, comment and have a great weekend!

Not that long ago my husband and I went for a walk through his boyhood town and we saw that several farms had disappeared. It seems to be the same everywhere.

GMG: I'm headed for your blog momentarily. Thanks for the visit. Can't wait to find out where you're headed next.

Middle Ditch: I guess it's hard to make money on a small farm when "agrabusiness" has put efficiencies of scale into food production. Still, there's good reason to lament the passing of local farming, and the loss of the farmsteads is the loss of an important tradition. Thanks for stopping by.
